I was working on a new screen-print but it fell on the wayside. Here is the line art. My friend said it looked like something for Pulp. Maybe I’ll finish it up next semester.
I am Edgar Ruiz. I am a graphic design student. This is my blog. This is my web-site: Ed-grr.com.

I sent my friend, Amanda Jeauxnes, a packet of screen-prints and other artwork for her birthday.
I also threw in a signed headshot.
I got the idea for Bearz in da Hood at this time. I had this pack of Emily Martin cards that I wasn’t going to use; I am not the kind of person that uses postcards. It felt a little plain with nothing on there so I had to Ed-grrrize it. Naturally this led to bears who are also rappers. Naturally.

I Ed-grrrized this pack of Emily Martin postcards using a simple idea:
What if these bears were also rappers dispensing their hard-earned wisdom?
I lettered these all freehand and went straight to the postcard. As the bears would say, “Live large or go home to yo’ momma.” I only used a baseline and cap height on these.
This project was a lot of fun. It gave me a reason to practice lettering and allowed me to play with my fancy graphic design tools.
Stay tuned, Ed-grrr fans.

This is a well-written, and wonderfully lettered, article about Super Obvious Secrets That [Phil] Wish[es] They’d Teach In Art School.
Great advice in there.

I finally got a chance to play with James Edmondson’s Wisdom Script. It’s pretty neat. Needs some work on the kerning tables as he warned.
